ABOUT US

Here at Welton Waters Adventure Centre (WWAC) we offer a wide range of land and water based activities to suit all ages and abilities. Whether you are looking to learn a new skill, complete DofE or Scouting qualification, a company team building exercise, a family outing or a fun day out for your school or club we have something for everyone. We cater for individuals, groups, schools or corporate from out taster sessions and parties all the way up to advanced courses. Our highly qualified, professional team will help you maximise your skill development whilst keeping you safe and having fun.

WWAC opened in May 2012 and over the years we have worked with a wide cross section of the community including: schools, disability groups, community groups, and women’s groups and youth organisations. As an organisation we are particularly interested in giving opportunities to sections of the community that traditionally would not participate in outdoor activities.

We are not a club, we’re open to the public, NO MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED.

Although we are only 11 miles west of Hull just off the A63 our lake and surrounding areas give the feeling of being miles from anywhere and provide the perfect environment to get away from it all.

Welton Waters Adventure Centre is owned and run by Hull Trinity House Charity

Hull Trinity House consists of The Corporation of the Hull Trinity House and The Hull Trinity House Charity.

The Charity serves seafarers and their families, the Trinity House School, now an academy, and the Corporation is formed by the Guild or Fraternity (Brotherhood) of Masters, and Pilots, Seamen of The Trinity House in Kingston upon Hull.

The Guild was officially founded in June 1369 although it had in effect existed since the mid-12th Century, of townsmen and women affiliated with Holy Trinity Church.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do we need to wear?

For any activity we provided all the equipment i.e. wetsuit, buoyancy aid etc so all you need for water activities is swimwear, towel and an old pair of trainers which you don’t mind getting wet (footwear is required at all times including on the water) No Crocs or Flipflops for safety reasons.

During warmer weather if you don’t want to wear a wetsuit shorts/leggings and t-shirt are fine, you still need to be wearing footwear.

For landbased activities you need to wear clothing suitable for the weather conditions on the day. Please be aware that you may get muddy.

Do you have a cafe?

Yes we do.

Do you accept card payments?

Yes, for everything except drinks, tuckshop and Open Water Swimming

Are dogs allowed on site?

Yes, we are a dog friendly centre. Dogs are very welcome and can be in or on the water with owners. If Archery is taking place all dogs must be on a lead and must be kept clear of the area.

Do you have risk assessments?

Yes, copies of our Risk Assessments are available on our website on our Downloads page. Hear you will also find copies of our Public Liability Insurance and centre certificates.

Do you run Residential courses?

No

What is the shortest session we can book?

The shortest session we offer is a 1 hour taster session. This is only suitable for a maximum group size of 12.

What is the maximum capacity of the centre?

We can host events for up to 60 people although this does mean we have to be prescriptive about the activities on offer.

Can the teachers/leaders/carers take part in the activity?

Everyone can take part in the activities as long as it does not affect the ratio of instructors to participants.

Do you provide catering?

No, but we have a kitchen which can be hired or alternatively we can use an outside catering company who supply an excellent buffet service at reasonable rates. Please contact us for more info.

What happens if the weather is bad?

We can cope with quite bad weather before it causes large problems, many of the sessions can be run in all conditions, rain does not stop play we may however need to alter the activities to suit the weather conditions – i.e. changing sailing to paddling if we have no wind.

What staff will be running the sessions for my group?

We only use fully qualified staff and always work within ratios set by the national governing bodies, this ensures safety and quality.

Can I combine water and land-based sessions?

We are happy to offer any combination of our activities but please be aware that some activities are better run as a minimum 2 hour session i.e. Bushcrafts

Can I use the facilities without using WWAC staff?

Alongside our instructor led activities we also offer kit hire only and own launch for the lake to be used for non-commercial leisure purposes only. Water based instruction, tuition and coaching may only be undertaken by WWAC staff. We also have also our outdoor learning area which can be hired for you to run self-led bushcrafts and woodland studies and we have 3 classrooms available for hire.
