Keelboat Sailing
Welton Waters Adventure Centre is one of the few inland venues in the UK which can launch and recover these larger boats, with a professional set up, for events and training courses. We are proud to deliver this service at our East coast No tide, to worry about, come along and have a go with one of our instructor,
Why keelboats? Sailing on bigger boats is fun, keelboats won’t capsize like dinghies and there is no need to wear a wetsuit as you don’t get so wet! Freedom 21 larger boats provide a stable platform for sailing without the physical stress of hiking-out, or crouching reducing stress on back, hips and knees. You will find there’s more space in the boat to move around and a different social dynamic and with 3 people on the boat, the crewing experience can be far more rewarding.
- A Keelboat Experience is just that; a little taste of sailing. You’ll get a fun, hands on, introduction to keelboat sailing and by the end you’ll be keen to find out more!
- This course is a gentle introduction to keelboat sailing, where you will learn how to rig a keelboat and the basics to get afloat for the first time. At the end, you’ll be able to sail in light winds under supervision.
- This course is designed to bridge the gap between Basic Skills and the Advanced Modules, giving you the opportunity to practice techniques introduced at earlier levels and for competent dinghy sailors who want a change of direction. With a flexible syllabus this course is the perfect opportunity to shape the time around exactly what you want to develop on.
